Today German family minister Ursula von der Leyen (CDU) met with major providers to sign an agreement to establish filtering for their DNS servers. While targeted at child porn, these measures introduce infrastructure and laws to ban all kinds of content on the internet, like e.g. file sharing or politically inconvenient information or opinion. The filter list will be kept secret and is illegal to distribute or publish.

The meeting was accompanied by a protest organized by the Chaos Computer Club and other civil rights organizations. According to eye witnesses around 500 people gathered to demand free and uncensored access to information.
